DIPLOMA KEJURURAWATAN

The programme is designed to develop student's skills in nursing, enabling them to provide safe and competent care in various healthcare settings. With a combination of theoretical learning in classrooms and practical training in simulation ward and skills lab, this programme gives a complete range of education in the various fields of nursing. In addition, students will have the opportunity to attend practical placements in participating local hospitals in order to achieve hands-on experience prior to stepping into the working world. The strong emphasis on nursing knowledge and hands-on training ensures graduates competency as Registered Nurses as well as giving them the advantage in the graduate marketplace. The curriculum for the Diploma in Nursing programme is based on the national requirements from the Malaysia Nursing Board and is fully approved. To assists in career prospects, IASM also arranges placements for successful candidates to guarantee a place in the health care services, either in the government or the private sector.

Entry Requirement

For Malaysian Candidates

1. Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or *EQUIVALENT with five (5) credits
2. Mandatory credit in:
  • Bahasa Melayu
  • Mathematics (Elementary or Additional or Modern)
  • Either one (1) of the credits below:
  • General Science
  • Biology
  • Chemistry and Pass in Biology
  • Physics and Pass in Biology
3. Credit in two (2) other subjects
4. Pass in English

For International Candidates

1. Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or *EQUIVALENT with five (5) credits:

3. Credit in there (3) other subjects
4. A pass in International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an Overall Band Score of minimum 5.5; OR Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL):
  • TOEFL Paper Based Test (TOEFL PBT) a minimum score of 515
  • TOEFL Computer Based Test (TOEFL CBT) a minimum score of 215
  • TOEFL Internet Based Test (TOEFL iBT) a minimum score of 80.
5. Able to converse in Bahasa Melayu 
(*EQUIVALENT – refers to the overseas academic qualification obtained that is equivalent to SPM as approved by MQA)

Health Status

1. All candidates must be certified medically fit by a registered medical practitioner within one month from commencement of the nursing programme.
2. Candidates with any of the following medical conditions cannot be admitted into the programme such as:
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Hepatitis B
  • Hepatitis C
  • Mental health disorders
  • Epilepsy
  • Color blindness
3. Candidates must not have any physical disabilities or impaired senses that hinder nursing dexterity.
4. Pregnancy is not allowed throughout the course.
